Titre: How integrable is KdV ?
ABSTRACT
It is well known since the pioneer work of Novikov (1974), Lax (1975) and McKean-Trubowitz (1976) that the KdV equation under periodic boundary conditions is an integrable infinite-dimensional Hamiltonian system. In my talk I will discuss recent results about a transformation which put this equation to the integrable normal form and the normal form itself. I will briefly mention applications of this normal form to the study of perturbed KdV equations and related open problems. I will also discuss how this is related to corresponding finite-dimensional questions.
