Algebraic Topology Conference

University of Nantes

September 3 - 7 , 2001

The GDRE/CNRS 1110, the UMR 6629 CNRS/University of Nantes and the Topology Seminar Bonn/Düsseldorf/Wuppertal are organising a EuroConference on Algebraic Topology at the University of Nantes from September3 to September 7, 2OO1.

Deadline for registration: July 6, 2001. Registration is now closed.

SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM
The scientific program concerns main research fields in Modern Homotopy Theory: Algebraic Homotopy Theory, Unstable Modules over the Steenrod algebra, MacLane Homology, Operads, Loop space homology, Cyclic Homology, Algebraic K-theory. Algebraic Topology coming from problems of Geometric Topology, e.g. Knot Theory, Low dimensional Manifolds, Foliations, will also be included.

The Program will contain one hour keynote talks by invited speakers, three lectures on Knot Invariants  dvi by Pierre VOGEL (U. Paris 7), and one-hour talks or 40 minute talks selected by the Scientific Committee. Students and young doctors are especially encouraged to submit a talk.

 SCHEDULE
The conference will be held at the Amphi F of the Faculté des Sciences de l'Université de Nantes (campus map), starting on Monday, September 3rd, at 9:30 a.m.

FUNDING
We are very proud that the conference receives financial support from the EC as a High-Level Scientific Conference.

 The organisers expect to cover accomodation, breakfast and lunches for all participants, and to reimburse most transportation costs.
Please do not hesitate to contact us and apply for financial support if you need it, for some funds might be available at the end of the conference for fuller reimbursment.

TRANSPORTATION COSTS
GDRE-members should be able to claim their transportation expenses from the GDRE-funds (please pay attention to the special messages concerning GDRE-members).

We expect to be able to reimburse transportation costs within Europe. Still, we stongly suggest participants to use varied alternative funding, e.g. through European Networks.

LIVING EXPENSES
The organisers expect to cover accomodation, breakfast and lunches for all participants,
Accomodation at the student residence will be covered.

REGISTRATION FEE
We are requested to collect a registration fee.
Registration fee for this meeting is 400 FF or 61 EUROS, which covers housing in a student room. Registration is free for students.

Admission to the conference includes housing at the student residence FRESCHE-BLANC, breakfast and lunch from September 3rd to September 7th at the Restaurant Universitaire La LOMBARDERIE, Conference Dinner (thursday night, September 6th), coffee breaks, reception and Concert (Chamber Music) at the Nantes Congress Hall (wednesday night, September 5th), book of abstracts, and transportation on trams and buses during the week of the conference.

Payment can be made by:

  - cash (participants from abroad only) on your arrival at Nantes (this is intended to avoid bank charges).

  - bank check payable in French Francs to the order of
