Introduction to pseudospectrum

In recent years there has been an enormous growth of interest in non-self-adjoint operators in quantum mechanics. This talk aims to introduce pseudospectrum as a suitable generalisation of spectrum for this type of operators. After the summary of its general properties we study a specific case of a Schrödinger operator with an imaginary cubic potential.
